What is JOLTED Arts Space and JOLT Arts?

JOLT Arts is a registered charitable organisation for supporting sonic and visual arts creation and presentation. JOLT works in partnership with Hullick Studios, which is a commercial arts producing company directed by Dr James Hullick. JOLT Arts professionalises it artists through the provision of high level, high calibre industry opportunities.

JOLTED Arts Space is the building where JOLT Arts has its headquarters and facilities: 342 High St Northcote. Kindred Studios is our workshop space in the west of Melbourne.

JOLTED Arts Space presents the projects of JOLT’s in-house artists and other events by guest artists. JOLTED Arts Space hosts 20-30 events p/year.

JOLT Arts is an arts production house. In-house JOLT artists create shows, exhibitions, arts objects and events, and participate in career development workshop programs. Sometimes guest artists (not on our books) are invited to work with our in-house artists. JOLT Arts manages a full program of industry workshops for artists registered with the NDIS.

Artists in Australia find it very difficult to access artist management companies that will support their careers. JOLT offers this support in the unique fields of contemporary music and art within the frame work of being a production company: an organisation that makes in-house productions.

NDIS Services

JOLT supports the NDIS and its governing body the NDIA. We are thankful that such a wonderful initiative exists within Australian society. Roughly 50% of JOLT’s represented artists are artists with disabilities supported by the NDIS. NDIS artists enrol in workshops and then become eligible to present their work publicly with JOLT. The NDIS is only a part of what JOLT Arts supports. We support artists of all stages of their career to fulfil their career visions.

We:

  1. lead the arts through the creation & presentation of elite arts projects.
  2. deliver care & access support for artists who require these services.

Outcomes

JOLT seeks impactful professional industry outcomes for our artist including:

  • album creation
  • performances
  • book creation
  • artwork creation
  • exhibitions
  • events
  • local and international arts tours

Artists are unlikely to receive equivalent high calibre industry outcomes through community centres and NDIS day programs. These opportunities require great professional skill and industry engagement to manage.

JOLT Arts has thrived over many years from remarkable funding provided by arts funders – acknowledged below – but also through the generous support of some key individuals:

+ AMANDA HULLICK & ALEX MAYFIELD

+ LES & MINCI BOELCKEY

+ JULIAN BURNSIDE

We thank these individuals for their crucial support and guidance over the years.
