ABOUT WE CAN BE HEROES
Participating artists explore the idea of heroes – both perfect and imperfect – through photography, digital media, poetry, and story telling. The title comes from the David Bowie hit, and is used to sign post the idea that our heroes can be people we directly know in daily life, or that they can be famous people whose identity we might co-opt into our day to day existence.
Mathew Ward has created a story and digital drawing works that tell the tale of a canoeing trip to Niagara Falls.
Esther Tuddenham’s father, Les, passed last year. Esther has created a series of photos and poems that reflect on her father’s life: immigrating from England to Australia.
Astrid Meurer has been reflecting on a collage of the rock star Blondie, she made some 20years age.
The exhibition will be shown alongside several performances at JOLTED Arts Space.
