Le Scatterman and Inanna are ambulance drivers. Inanna is the senior officer. The drivers are also married. They are called out to assist a woman who is having a heart attack. That woman is Himiko.

Whilst driving, Inanna and Le Scatterman argue about domestic issues, resulting in Inanna dropping off Le Scatterman at the supermarket while she continues on to attend Himiko.

Le Scatterman calls Inanna while she is driving. Inanna is distracted while arguing on the phone and crashes the ambulance.

The flow of the opera cuts to video sequences of the daughters waiting for their parents to pick them up from school.

Having been thrown through the windscreen, Inanna dusts herself off and gets back in the ambulance and continues on to Himiko. When Inanna arrives Himiko berates her for taking too long. Himiko reveals that she is now a ghost (dying from the heart attack emergency), and that Inanna also is ghost. Much to Inanna’s alarm it is becomes apparent that Inanna died in the ambulance crash.

Le Scatterman arrives at the scene of Himiko’s death and shocks Himiko back to life with a defibrillator. Leaving Inanna in the ghost world.
