QUITS
Quit just standing there, and come celebrate the launch of Voiceworks #136, ‘Quits!’
There’ll be readings from Harrison Abbott, Josie Buden, Paula Campos and Frankie Carroll; magazines, stickers, prints and drinks for sale; back issues to make cut-out poetry with (or ransom notes, if that’s more your speed); and a very special musical guest! All in the cool autumn air, weather permitting. You’ll also get the chance to explore our first digital issue of the year, ‘Border’.
ARTISTS
Paula Campos studies English and Creative Writing at UNSW but does the hour-long commute back to Western Sydney every time. Her almost name was Diva.
Harrison Abbott is a Gamilaroi man studying English and History at the University of Melbourne.
Frankie Carroll is a young creative who loves to work with visual art and creative writing. They can be found in the cafés and op shops of Melbourne and Northeast Victoria, expanding their DVD collection and planning their strategy for the next game of Catan.
Josie Buden is a local cyclist, volunteer intimacy coordinator, and aspiring film/theatre-maker. Last year they wrote and produced Spruik!, a romantic comedy play about Lygon Street. They enjoy making people cry and tend to fear poets. They’re currently working on an anthology of rom-com short films.
Joel Keith is the editor of Voiceworks.
Access: This event will be AUSLAN interpreted. Jolt Arts has an accessible entrance at the back via a wooden ramp. Accessible parking at back of venue. Inside the building, there is a ramp down into main theatre space.
