MEGAN HUNTER

The prodigal artist; having been a founding member, Hunter returned to The Amplified Elephants in 2015 after an extended break. Hunter is primarily an iPad and keyboard synthesiser artist, although her recent return to the ensemble has seen her exploring other instrumentalities.

In 2022 Hunter released her first solo album titled Noise/Minimal with Hullick Studios Records. This project has marked a new growth in Hunter’s career into solo and specifically electronic explorations.

As a member of The Amplified Elephants Hunter has performed widely and released several albums.

In 2021 The Elephants released the album Deep Creatures on Heavy Machinery Records. The ensemble premiered the same show at JOLTED Arts Space, Northcote in 2022 for The City of Darebin’s FUSE Festival.

In 2015, Hunter performed in LA LA LULLABY at Federation Square for the Lights in Winter Festival. A highlight for Hunter in 2015 was working on the many collaborative recordings and project developments with a range of invited artists. Nat Grant’s work particularly resonated with Hunter.

Through working with Nat, Hunter found that working with iPad technology particularly suited her sonic language. In 2016 and 2017, Hunter joined the women of The Amplified Elephants to perform their show SHHHH at JOLT’s The Book of Daughters in Melbourne, China and Hong Kong, created in collaboration with sound artist Nat Grant. Hunter enjoyed solo physical and sonic performance moments in the ensemble’s most recent show SELF SEEKERS for the Festival of Live Art at the Footscray Community Arts Centre.
