JOLT FESTIVAL: CONCERT 2

Presented by JOLT Arts, Footscray Community Arts Centre, PBS 106.7FM & Beat Magazine

PHILHELLENES

PATRICK FRANCIS & CO

ELISION

We welcome audiences to the second day of the festival with the captivating allure of Rebetiko music performed by PHILHELLENES. Led by Rebetiko legend Con Kalamaras (guitar and tzouras), this all-star trio includes Maireed Hannan (violin and voice) and Wayne Simmons (guitar, accordion and banjo).

JOLT would like to then introduce you to the PATRICK FRANCIS FAMILY, who will perform a new work that explores Patrick’s Indian heritage through the prism of his experience with autism. Patrick will perform soundscapes with Sandy Francis (mother to Patrick) with field recordings sourced by Greg Francis (father to Patrick).

We round out this sonic feast with iconic Australian chamber ensemble ELISION performing Timothy McCormack’s ‘Subsistence’ for two players and one slide guitar. Elision’s artistic director Daryl Buckley and percussionist Peter Neville will realise the work with the deft touch sonic gurus.

The sonic field is far and wide.
