WARREN BURT
Composer, Performer, Writer, Instrument Builder, Film-and-Video Maker, Performance Poet
Warren Burt is a composer, performer, writer, instrument builder, film-and-video maker, performance poet and a few other things as well. Born in 1949 in the USA, he moved to Australia in 1975, to participate in starting the Music Department at La Trobe University and the Clifton Hill Community Music Centre. And so the years passed. Most recently he spent 11 years teaching at Box Hill Institute (2012-2022) and has been involved in various music technology software and hardware projects. Tonight’s show will involve live performance with electronics, using experimental software such as Wilsonic (intonation tuning software), VCV Rack (analog synthesizer emulation), SpaceCraft (live granulation performance) and sampled experimental instruments based on the acoustic sculptures by Californian sound sculpture Bart Hopkin. A good time should be had by all.
