Presented by Stani Goma (PBS FM) and New Flower with programming by Henoke Nega (Mirage Records)EYOHA | ኢዮሃ is a community gathering in celebration of Ethiopian New Year at JOLTED Arts Space in Northcote. This special event seeks to explore the intersection of two worlds: the deeprooted musical traditions of Ethiopia and the innovative contemporary expressions being forged by the diaspora here in Melbourne.

The evening will be delivered through the immersive, vintage high fidelity New Flower sound system, with Ethiopian street food available from Kororima.

Performances on the night will highlight the depth and breadth of the culture, with DJs Rosa Solomon and Heni, with a live line-up featuring hip-hop from Nabio, contemporary RnB from Layesh, and traditional Ethiopian Azmari music by 2PAC.

Enkutatash, the Ethiopian New Year, translates to the ‘gift of jewels.’ Traditionally celebrated for centuries on 11 September, it is a vibrant time of renewal and rebirth, honouring family, community, and rich cultural traditions—all beautifully symbolized by the bright yellow blossoms that carpet the landscape of Ethiopia just in time for the festivities.

Suitable for ages 18+. Bookings essential.

This event is supported by the City of Darebin as part of Darebin FUSE Festival’s FUSE Funded program.
